The definition of social is changing. We used to think of people being together, now we think of people connecting through social networks. MOSAIQQ believes that we will rediscover the joy of spending time together with our family, children and friends, as opposed to connecting socially only via our personal computer – we call this concept Retro-Social.

To meet the future demand of closer social activity, we need a Retro-Social computing interface in addition to our existing personal computer interface. This is why we founded MOSAIQQ.

Photos are a big part of our life. When we are on vacation, we take pictures of what we see. When we have special occasions, we document the event with pictures. Yet we find that taking photos and spending a lot of time editing them often ends with the photos being stored in electronic folders and never looked at again.

MOSAIQQ One is a new way to get more life out of our photos but from a Retro-Social angle. The first prototype was a small touch computer hanging on a column, where pictures were displayed as a slide show. It was clear that changing pictures would change the setting of the room, and by using touch the keyboard and mouse became obsolete.

Today MOSAIQQ One is installed as eight high precision touch monitors wrapped around a column in the middle of our living room. It serves as test of the application, performance and user interaction.

We believe that people want to spend more time together and want to be together when consuming online media – and that the consumption gets more interesting on a personal level when we can share it with others. This is the reason for TouchDuet.

TouchDuet is a cross device platform that turns sharing of online media content upside down. It’s a proprietary software concept that blends TV, smartphone, desktop and tablet online consumptions with easy interaction between the people you want to spend time with.

Upon founding MOSAIQQ we did an investigation of touch monitors to find the best vendor in the market. 3M turned out to be the preferred choice because they provided the most precise large touch displays. However there was no gesture software available that utilized the true capability of the hardware. We knew we needed a solid platform and this development became the foundation for MOSAIQQ.

The platform converts the very precise finger positions reported by the hardware into gestures delivered to the software applications. It was written from the ground up in order to take full advantage of the touch sensor and to provide a fast response to the application.

The MOSAIQQ Platform was used to develop MOSAIQQ One as well as TouchDuet. We learned that using your own platform for development of end-user applications ensures a high quality and a thought-through middleware. It put the platform to its test and helped develop an enhanced debugging and tool chain.

MOSAIQQ is a software company that challenges the personal computer concept by introducing a new concept where the computer is for the family and where everyone can interact and participate in the same activity. It is our mission to build intuitive software for the home that enables families to use the computer as a social activity tool and enjoy more time in each other’s company.
